Hello awesome people of the blogosphere. I totally forgot
about this blog’s birthday which was on the 7th. I’ve had this for over two years now and I’m
starting to value properly just how much of a brilliant way of having a record
of passing time it is. In the least cheesy was possible, a lot has changed in
my little world (and the wider one obvs) since I started blogging. There’s the
obvious stuff, like moving to the suburbs (I don’t know if these are even
legimate suburbs but I’d say they are and there are white picket fences and
flowers and stuff), getting my hamster, going through year eight, nine and part
of ten, gaining and losing SO MANY friends, discovering that cream crackers are
the greatest foodstuff everrrrrr, getting a few piercings and all the times
I’ve dyed my hair, as well as the more complicated angsty teen gurl parts like
this whole figuring stuff out shit and trying not to totally get buried under
how pointlessly confusing life is. There’s all the bands I’ve discovered, the
movies I've become obsessed with, people I’ve talked to, stuff I’ve gained and
notebooks I’ve filled. So this post is going to be sort of introspective and a kind of celebration of all my favourite stuff I've recorded on this blog over the last year.
Some of the amazing shoesies I've aquired over the course of this year; the ones at the top are Office (I replaced the laces with gold ribbons and thrifted saddle shoes and underneath are Irregular Choice and Primark.A sort of zine I made about some of my favourite artists and all round heroes- Courtney Love, Marina, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift and Debbie Harry.
My typewriter which has been a good friend this year. It was a hand me down from my stepdad's mum and is light enough that I can carry it around with me and the keys are really stiff so I have to pretty much punch them so it makes for good stress relief. Pictures are, from top left, its home in my bedroom, me typing on it (which looks like two pictures because of the shelf) and it in Pret on Halloween when I was pretending to be in a Simon and Garfunkel song and wrote poems about butterflies intending to put them inside library books.
Some of the best parts of my room which I've worked on a lot this year. Since I moved house in July I've had a lot more space and every time I can't sleep (which is pretty much every night, opps) I work on a little part of it, like hammering nails for flower crowns, fake flowers everywhere and ribbons and lace. From top left; my flower crowns and some necklaces, the op of my waderobe, part of the wall above my fireplace with my brother's dream catcher and playing cards and records I pinned up with sweet valley high books.
More important tingz. My mirror a picture I took on the last day of summer with my bird cage and flowers, me in the park last week and one of my shelves with the glasses my grandad gave me (they were his in the 60s) and other special things like thr candles, photographs and plaster sea horse.
My army jacket is another thing I've aqcuired and has become really special. I really love the idea of jackets which pretty much tell their owner's life story. It has so many patches and badges and I've sewed sweet wrappers and charms off bracelets to the lapels and the pockets are full of memories- like flowers I've picked, stones and shells, a bit of twisted metal I found with my boyfriend, SO MANY sweet wrappers and broken bracelets. At the bottom is my Grease record, Rookie flexidisk and Riot Grrl box and me in London earlier this year.
This is one of my favourite pictures I've taken for this blog; prom dress, flower crown and necklace are all super special. Funnily enough a few weeks after I had my lame pretend prom in my room there was the biggest freak out ever at school over year tens wanting to go to the year eleven prom which was actually like three people and I said I was totally happy with my mini proms because I'm that much of a loser.
And these are some songs which have been really important to me this year. Most of them don't have music videos and I'm too lazy to make an 8tracks with them (plus nearly all of them have already been on at least one of my mixes already. How They Want Me To Be- Best Coast Bubblegum Bitch- Marina and the Diamonds Pop Queen- Ben Lee Space Oddity- David Bowie Prom Theme- Fountains of Wayne. I have been trying to write about how much I love Prom Theme and haven't really managed to articulate just how amazing it is so JUST LISTEN. BE TRANSFORMED BY THE MAGICAL FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE MAGIC AND GO OUT AND LIE ON A BEACH AND THINK DEEP THOUGHTS.
ON zine! Because I haven't ever mentioned it before!
My pet mouse Freddie in my old bedroom. He died a few months ago and I still think about him a lot and he was a big part of the last year. Puffy, my hamster, is lovely but I still miss how smart Freddie was.
The book which had a picture I took on the cover! Which also happens to be one of my favourite books!
My SA rollerskates and the first real life moodboard I made (in my old bedroom.)
Jacket a vintage shop owner gave me, Brick Lane dress, Replay wedges and Harrod's tights. This was before I moved and I kind of miss our shed which was my den for five years.
I'm sure I'll add more to this post because there is just so much but now it's sunday night and time to begin a week's worth of school work and pray it snows again overnight. Thank you to every awesome person who follows me, YOU ARE ALL SO COOL AND I NEED TO DO A GIVEAWAY TO THANK YOU.
