I am back in school now and it really feels like summer never happened. This was the first year (ever) where I actually did look forward to going back because I am horrifically clingy and missed everyone so much and it just feels nice to return to the rhythm of it and I actually feel like I am more creative in my spare time because I value time so much more in some strange way. All the sudden coursework is a bit of a shock and I am really regretting spending most of the last term of year 10 making art in the back of classes and falling asleep (fun fact: it is actually easier to sleep when you are using a desk/airplane table/stranger's foot as a pillow.) So now I'm just cursing my lazy, glitter loving previous self and trying to compensate for that. Earlier this week I got some film developed from the summer and spread the pictures out on the floor and took in all the little fragments of my life. Frank Turner wrote a really beautiful song about finding a reel of undeveloped film and discovering a whole part of his life on it which he'd forgotten. That's why I really love using film. Even if the pictures aren't necessarily as good, nothing beats making a roll last a few months and finding so many memories on it. One of the most amazing experiences in my life happened a couple of months ago, when I ended up sat on a hillside at 4am, miles from anywhere with two strangers. The sun rose, there was thick fog for some reason, we listened to Dark Side of the Moon and it was so surreal and serene and unexplainable. I didn't think things would every return to normal after that but of course they did although (because I'm far too sentimental) I like to think that something changed, in some way. I don't know.
When I saw Mary Spender live at Larmer Tree.
Larmer tree with three very cool people.
A girl who sung before Maria and I have no idea who she was? She was really amazing.
Nadia and Lakota with the famous traffic cone. Her hair has changed colour a million times since then (according to facebook, sadly we live quite far apart.)
Some oddments; a fire dancer I saw in a reconstruction of a Celtic round house late one night, strawberries and Converse at the PYO at Cat and Fiddle, a dreamcatcher and me sat on a giant mushroom when my hair was pink.
Also, I finally have had to stomach the fact that touch-screens are the future and have a new phone. I've joined instagram and my user name is @bubblegumpopqueen and my snapchat is @bubblequ33n if anyone wants to follow me or chat. Lots to write about!
